PORTLAND, Ore. -- McKenzie Wingard scored a goal halfway through the overtime period to propel the Lewis & Clark Pioneers to a 2-1 victory over the Whitman Blues on Friday night at Griswold Stadium.
Wingard's goal was her fourth of the season and first since Sept. 9. She scored unassisted off a move around a defender from the right side and placed it through the upper left in the 95th minute.
The victory is the second straight at home for the Pioneers, who improved to 3-8-2 overall and 2-6-1 in the Northwest Conference.
Caroline Hennes scored the game's first goal in the 18th minute to give the Pios a 1-0 lead. The sophomore put it past Whitman goalkeeper Allie Seracuse (1-8-1) from 10 yards out. It was her third score of the year.
Hannah Osmundson (3-3-1) only faced three shots, making two saves, as the Pioneers were aggressive with possession. Paige Barta, Giana Losson, Alexa Hanson, Kori Swanson and Mali PetersonWood started defensively for the Pioneers, with Losson posting four shots and Barta blasting one, which was on-goal. Eliza Van Wetter scored Whitman's equalizer in the 45th minute.
Whitman dropped to 1-11-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the NWC.
Lewis & Clark returns home on Sunday against Whitworth.
