Two Pios score first career goals in 3-0 shutout against Pacific

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers were on a mission Sunday afternoon as they took on the Pacific Boxers at Hanson Stadium. The Pios secured a 3-0 win after Saturday's draw against the George Fox Bruins, playing with the same intensity and focus that head coach Jim Tursi said gave them "their best game of the year."

Boxers goalie Saya Brown misplayed the ball and came too far forward, leaving the goal wide open for Vaver to send the ball into the back of the net off a pass from Julia Markmann. The Boxers (3-9-1, 1-8-1 NWC) nearly had an equalizer a minute later off a shot from Lydia King, which was saved by Abby Prager.

The Pioneers outshot the Boxers 7-1 and added two goals in the second half to secure the margin, from Sara Klott and Brecklyn Beighle respectively. Each goal was a career first for both Klott and Beighle.

Prager tended goal for the Pios for the full 90 minutes, making four saves for a clean slate.
